Youth Advisor: Sophie Bernstein

Sophie is a high school junior from Missouri. She is a military dependent that is passionate about community service. Sophie is dedicated to promoting service learning and is an active volunteer in her community. Along with her siblings, Sophie helps to maintain and update www.volunTEENnation.org, an organization that engages and promotes youth service throughout the nation and she oversees www.gohealthySTL.org, an initiative to build raised vegetable garden beds at low-income pre-schools in the St. Louis region. Sophie is interested in pursuing a career in the sciences.

Sophie actively volunteers at area low-income daycares and pre-schools leading basic plant science and botany workshops. She donates all the produce to her gardens to area food banks and families-in-need at the daycare facilities. She is proud to serve as a youth advisory board member to Harvard University's School of Education Making Caring Common organization and is a reporter for www.ChannelKindness.org. Sophie also enjoys playing in the outfield for her high school's softball team.
