Youth Advisor: Shreyas Parab

Shreyas P., a proud resident of the great state of Pennsylvania, and strives to be the change he wishes to see in the world and isn’t afraid of challenging the norm along the way.

After competing at the National Spelling Bee ranking in the top 50 spellers from across the world, Shreyas was determined to unlock his true potential and that took shape in 5 TEDx talks on topics ranging from the education system to entrepreneurship, 2 companies cumulatively valued near $75k , and thousands of dollars in investment from Fortune 500 companies and high-profile angel investors. His novelty neckwear company made Shreyas one of the youngest suppliers to Fortune 1 Company, Walmart and his other company, an ed-tech company, was recently acquired by a million dollar education company.

Recently, he was accepted to the Young Sustainable Impact Accelerator, where 25 entrepreneurs from 17 countries were chosen from 10,020 applicants from 160 countries to address one of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. YSI will pay for him to travel to Oslo, Norway for two weeks to pitch with his team to foreign dignitaries, delegates to the UN and venture capitalists.

He also serves on various advisory boards including on organizations/companies like: Harvard’s Graduate School of Education Making Care Common Project, The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, Citizen University's Civic Collaboratory, KidBacker Enterprises. Shreyas has lobbied Congressman and state legislature which resulted in the funding of two key programs in Philadelphia for Hispanic teens and at-risk youth in the city. As one of the 25 members of the prestigious Youth Civic Collaboratory at Citizen University (also a non-partisan, non-profit) he advocates for civic engagement in his community and how to better engage in the political system.

For the Making Care Common Project, Shreyas has received national funding from Harvard and the KIND Foundation to implement an idea he created called Complimentary Kindness to boost positive student interactions within the community. He is creating a live event that can be carried out in any high school and is developing a mobile app for the cause.
