Julia is a rising senior (class of 2019) from Michigan. She is an eager learner, with her favorite subjects being science and math. She is very passionate about medicine and public health, and she aspires to be a doctor and/or public health professional in the future. In March 2018, she delivered a TedxYouth talk addressing a public health issue she is especially concerned about: the sleep deprivation epidemic among teenagers. Following the response and conversation the talk generated, as well as a public health summit at the University of Michigan, she created Teens Need Sleep, an organization aimed addressing the sleep deprivation epidemic among teenagers (https://www.teensneedsleep.org). Julia also enjoys musical theatre, tennis, and piano.
