Jasman is a senior in high school in New Jersey. He’s passionate about public service and government. In school he’s actively involved in FBLA, Student Government, Debate, and Theatre.
Through FBLA he has had the chance to compete at the regional, state, and national level against other high schoolers in business-oriented objective tests. In the summer of 2016, Jasman had the chance to travel to Atlanta, Georgia where he competed for top 10 places in the topic of Financial Math out of thousands of competitors nationwide. Jasman placed 10th in his topic in the nation and got to keep a shiny trophy. In Student Government, Jasman serves as the Chief Liaison of Policy where he works with faculty, administration, and students to reform existing policy and create new ones that will improve school climate and culture. Currently, Jasman and the Student Government are working on creating a group of students whose goal is to spread kindness through recognition of achievement and improvement throughout the school, while remaining anonymous to the student body. Jasman got a chance to write about what his student council is doing here.
Outside of school, Jasman is part of his township’s Economic Development Committee where he works to stimulate small business growth alongside the mayor and other members of the township council. Recently, he has been working on putting together promotional material for my township to use to attract businesses. Jasman is a part of a group of 26 members on the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Youth Advisory Board who aim to spread change by making schools more caring. During monthly webinars, the 26 students and advisors develop action plans for that month and work toward creating more inclusive schools across the nation. In college, Jasman hopes to major in political science and economics to pursue a career in governance.
