Marty Martinez

Panelist: Marty Martinez

Marty Martinez has more than 20 years of experience working on behalf of young people, families and communities. He first joined Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) in 2007, providing leadership to program services before becoming President and CEO in 2012. In his current role, Marty has set MMP’s organizational path to create and sustain empowering youth-adult relationships that help every young person reach their full potential. Marty was named as a 2017 Barr Fellow by the Barr Foundation. He is one of only 12 Boston leaders selected for this prestigious honor recognizing his and MMP’s work.Before joining MMP, Marty held senior positions at the Boston AIDS Consortium, the Regional Center for Healthy Communities, and the City of Somerville, where he led youth and educational services.

In addition to his professional experience, Marty has deep roots in civic life, having served on a variety of nonprofit boards and run for municipal office. He also is dedicated to improving the lives of his diverse neighbors and the community as a whole. He serves as an Advisory Council member for My Brothers Keeper - Boston, an academic mentor at the Boston’s Jeremiah Burke High School and as a member of the City of Boston Scholarship Committee. Currently MMP is working with Massachusetts legislators on measures to embed graduation coaches in Massachusetts schools to help provide social and emotional supports for students in danger of dropping out. Marty holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he received the Young Alumni Achievement Award in 2017. He also holds a master’s degree in Urban and Public Policy from Tufts University.
