David Cozart is a husband and father of three who is known for being a pillar in his Lexington, Kentucky community. His wife describes him as a father-figure to kids in their neighborhood and men in his community call him a mentor. Cozart is the founder of the Lexington Fatherhood Initiative which helps men become responsible dads through classes, counseling and mentorship.
In his unique field of work and ministry, Cozart says that he does not believe there is such a thing as deadbeat dads. “I don’t like that term. I think there are a lot of dead-broke dads. They’re dead-broke at times physically. They’re dead-broke at times financially. They’re dead-broke spiritually but they’re not deadbeat. I believe that fathers want to be the best daddy they can be to their children.”
