27 year-old Whitney Kittrell is like so many moms who just want the best for their kids. But last week, her best meant dressing as dad. The single mother of two decided to attend her son Lucas’s “Dads and Donuts” event last week – even though she isn’t technically a dad. When her son came home with the flyer for the event Kittrell told TODAY that her heart sank but she thought of a way for her son to not feel left out – she dressed like a dad. Despite feeling a bit uncomfortable at first, Kittrell proudly walked Lucas into the event where they ate donuts and received praise for her effort.

“I want to be able to give them the life they deserve, and be there for them and not feel like they missed out on anything because they didn’t have a dad,” Kittrell told TODAY after her Facebook post about the event went viral.
