On June 14, 2015, the Savage family's lives changed forever. Becky and Mike Savage lost their two oldest sons, Jack and Nick, on the same night to an opioid overdose. What can only be described as tragedy has become a mission for this family. They started the 525 Foundation in 2016, named after Jack and Nick's hockey numbers. The foundation's goal is to prevent another family from having to go through the same pain and tragedy. The Savage family now goes in to schools, talking with teenagers about the dangers of mixing prescription drugs and alcohol, and sharing the story of their sons. Becky Savage says the kids respond well to the stories. "We just go in to the high schools, and I show a few pictures of Nick and Jack, just trying to connect with the students that, 'they were kids just like most of you,'" says Becky. "It's just a way that they can start talking and having that conversation."
