Shelbie Witte is associate professor and the Kim and Chuck Watson Endowed Chair in Education at Oklahoma State University, where she directs the Oklahoma State University Writing Project, a site of the National Writing Project, and leads the Initiative for 21st Century Literacies Research.

She has taught middle school and high school English Language Arts in Oklahoma and Kansas, where she was recognized as a finalist for Kansas Teacher of the Year in 2008. She earned a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction/English Education from Kansas State University in 2008.

She serves on the National Council of English Middle Level Steering Committee and is the editor of SIGNAL Journal. Witte has been recognized for teaching excellence with both the FSU Undergraduate Teaching Award and the FSU Teaching for Transformation Award.

When she is not teaching, she studies 21st century literacies and multi-modal approaches to adolescent literacy learning and teacher/librarian collaborations.
